The Pre-LBA Data Sets Initiative CD-ROM set is a three-volume, three-disk collection that represents an effort to compile historical data from field experiments that were conducted in Amazonia before the LBA experiment began. The collection includes climatic, hydrological, geographic, topographic, vegetation, and remote-sensing data from measurements and regional campaigns that took place between 1973 and 1995. The data are organized on the CDs by field campaign. Volume 1 contains data from the following campaigns: FLUAMAZON (Moisture Flux in the Amazon), ISLSCP (International Satellite Land Surface Climatology Project), RADAMBRASIL (airborne radar images and photographs over Brasil), and RBLE (Rondonia Boundary Layer Experiment). Volume 2 contains data from the SCAR-B (Smoke, Clouds and Radiation - Brazil) experiment, as well as ARME (Amazon Region Micrometeorological Experiment) and the FLOODAMA (Amazon Floodplains) experiment. Volume 3 contains data from ABLE (Amazon Boundary Layer Experiment), ABRACOS (Anglo-Brazilian Amazonian Climate Observation Study), CAMREX (Carbon in the Amazon River Experiment), RONDONIA Maps - CABARE experiment, and TRACE-A (Transport and Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment - A).
